How I Stay Strong Against Life’s Battles with God’s Help

Hey everybody! It is so good to be hanging out with you today. You know, life comes at us fast, doesn’t it? One minute everything is smooth sailing, and the next minute you feel like you are standing right in the middle of a wrestling match you never signed up for. Bills are piling up, worries about the kids are keeping you up at night, or maybe that old familiar voice of doubt just keeps whispering in your ear, telling you you’re not enough, you’re too weak, or God has somehow forgotten your address.

The Battle Is Real, But the Armor Is Better

Let’s be completely honest with each other: we have an enemy, and he doesn’t take days off. He is constantly throwing flaming arrows of discouragement, fear, and temptation right at our minds. But here is the good news that changes everything. God didn’t leave us out here in the spiritual boxing ring wearing a blindfold and trying to throw punches in the dark. He gave us real spiritual armor, and He gave us His very presence.

When the pressure is on, our first instinct is usually to panic, to stress out, or to try and white-knuckle our way through our problems using our own willpower. But willpower runs dry pretty fast. True spiritual strength doesn’t come from digging deep inside yourself and finding some hidden reserve of mental toughness. It comes from looking completely outside of yourself and anchoring your soul in the rock-solid finished work of Jesus Christ. He has already won the war, and because we are united to Him by grace through faith, we get to fight from a place of victory, not for it.

True spiritual strength doesn’t come from digging deep inside yourself; it comes from anchoring your soul in the finished work of Jesus.

Rooting Your Life in Prayer and the Word

So how do we actually live this out on a random Tuesday when everything is going wrong? It comes down to two very practical habits: prayer and Scripture. Now, I’m not talking about fancy, religious talk or reading the Bible just to check a box off your daily to-do list. I mean treating prayer like oxygen and Scripture like food.

When the lies start screaming at you, you have to fight back with the truth. Jesus showed us the exact blueprint when He was tempted in the wilderness. He didn’t argue with the enemy using His own opinions; He said, “It is written.” That is our weapon too! We take God at His word. We open up the Bible, we let it wash over our tired minds, and we talk to God honestly about our fears. Prayer shifts our focus off of how big our problems are and reminds us of how infinitely big our God is. It takes our frantic, scattered thoughts and anchors them in His unchanging peace.

Walking in Confident Power

When you start soaking your mind in God’s truth every single day, something incredible happens. The lies start losing their volume. You stop walking around like a defeated victim who is just trying to survive until Friday, and you start walking like an actual child of the King who knows who holds tomorrow.

You don’t have to be afraid of life’s battles, because the battle belongs to the Lord. His power is made perfect right in the middle of our weakness. So the next time fear tries to knock on your front door, don’t answer it. Let Jesus answer it instead.

Where are you feeling the heaviest pressure in your life right now, and what is one truth from God’s Word that you can use to push back against the lies today?
