Hey everybody! It is so good to connect with you today. You know, sometimes we hear words like “redemption” or “justice” and we picture big, heavy courtrooms with stern judges banging gavels. But when it comes to God, His justice isn’t about pushing us away—it’s actually the exact place where His fierce, rescuing love meets us right where we are. Let’s talk about how that changes everything for us, personally.
When Justice and Love Kiss
We live in a world where we all know what wrong looks like. When someone hurts us, or when we mess up and hurt someone else, something deep inside us cries out for justice. We know things shouldn’t just be brushed under the rug. And honestly, we worry that if God is truly good and just, He has to look at our messes and throw the book at us.
That’s what makes the cross of Jesus so mind-blowing. God didn’t just sweep our sins under the rug to pretend they never happened, nor did He just sit back and watch us drown in the consequences. Instead, He stepped right into the mess Himself. The brilliant beauty of the cross is that God’s justice and His love didn’t fight each other—they kissed. He took the penalty we earned, right onto His own shoulders, because He loves us too much to leave us in our guilt.
Taking Our Mess Personally
Think about that for a second. God doesn’t love us like a corporation loves its customers, or like a distant boss looking at spreadsheets. He takes our brokenness personally. When Jesus went to the cross, He wasn’t just fixing a generic human problem out there in the universe; He was dealing with your specific regrets, your private failures, and my stubborn pride.
God’s justice wasn’t a sword held over our heads to destroy us; it was the shield He used to catch the blow meant for our hearts.
Because He took the hit personally, the slate isn’t just wiped clean—it’s replaced with a brand-new beginning. You aren’t defined by the worst thing you’ve ever done. You are defined by the incredible depth of the rescue He bought for you.
Living Like We’re Actually Free
Here is the real test of all this: Do we actually live like we’re free? So many of us carry around invisible backpacks filled with old shame, trying to earn a little bit of grace every single day through our good behavior. But Jesus didn’t die just to get us out of hellfire; He died to bring us into a real, living relationship where we can finally exhale.
When you really let that sink in—that the Creator of the universe looked at your worst moments and decided you were worth dying for—it changes how you walk through a Monday morning. It cures our need to constantly prove ourselves. We stop hiding our flaws and start leaning into His healing hands, knowing that His love is stronger than anything we bring to the table.
So let me ask you today: Where in your life are you still trying to hide your flaws from God, instead of letting His fierce, personal love set you completely free?
