Hey everybody! It is so good to be connecting with you today. You know, life moves fast, and sometimes we get so busy just trying to keep all the plates spinning—work, family, bills, the daily grind—that we forget to stop and look at where we actually are. We get numb. We just go through the motions. But every once in a while, God hits the pause button on our lives and reminds us of what He’s done, and man, it changes everything.
Running on Empty
If we’re being totally honest, there was a time in my life when I wasn’t just tired—I was flat-out dead inside. From the outside looking in, maybe things looked fine. But on the inside? Total wasteland. I was trying to patch together my own worth, my own peace, and my own purpose out of whatever the world was handing out. And let me tell you, chasing after things that can’t save you is exhausting.
We do this all the time, don’t we? We look for life in places where only death lives. We try to earn our value, prove our goodness, or just numb the ache with whatever is close at hand. But the Bible tells us a wild truth: before Christ stepped into our mess, we weren’t just struggling or making bad choices. Paul says we were actually dead in our trespasses and sins. We didn’t need a little self-help seminar or a better game plan. We needed a resurrection.
The Shock of Real Mercy
That is where God’s grace crashes in. Not when we’ve finally got our act together, and not when we’ve cleaned up our resume. The scriptures use this amazing phrase: “But God, being rich in mercy…” Right when we are at our worst, totally helpless and unable to save ourselves, His massive love meets us in the dark.
God didn’t look down at your mess and demand you fix it first; He rolled up His sleeves and brought you back to life Himself.
Think about that. Grace isn’t a reward for good behavior. It’s an unearned, unmerited rescue mission. Jesus took our deadness, our failures, and our shame upon Himself on the cross, and in exchange, He handed us His own vibrant, eternal life. He didn’t just forgive the past; He made us new from the inside out. That changes how you wake up in the morning. It changes how you look in the mirror. You aren’t defined by your worst day anymore.
Walking in the Light
So what do we do with a gift like that? We live in it! We stop trying to prove ourselves to a world that only loves you when you’re useful. Instead, we rest in the finished work of Jesus. Every single day is an invitation to lean into His love and let Him lead.
Listen, wherever you are sitting right now—whether you feel close to God or miles away—I want you to know something deep in your bones: you are deeply, fiercely loved. You don’t have to fake it anymore. You can just come home.
