Hey everybody! It is so good to connect with you today. If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably had one of those weeks where you look in the mirror and just think, Really? I did that again? We all have those moments. We drop the ball at work, we lose our temper with the people we love most, or we fall flat on our face trying to do the right thing. And right in that heavy, awkward silence after we mess up, a little voice whispers in our head: “You blew it. God is probably shaking His head at you right now.” But I am here to tell you today that the voice of Jesus sounds completely different than that. His love doesn’t run away when we stumble—it runs straight toward us.
Grace That Meets Us in the Mess
We tend to think that God loves us when we’ve got our act together. We imagine grace as a reward for good behavior, like getting a gold star on a school chart when we finally behave ourselves. But the heartbeat of the Gospel is actually the exact opposite. Jesus doesn’t wait for us to clean up our act before He moves in. He meets us right in the middle of our absolute mess—dusty, confused, and sometimes covered in the mud of our own poor choices.
Think about the people Jesus spent His time with when He walked this earth. He wasn’t hanging out with the folks who had everything figured out. He was sitting at dinner with the outcasts, the tired, and the broken. Why? Because He isn’t afraid of our failures. He already knew every single mistake we would ever make before He even went to the cross, and He loved us enough to go anyway. His grace isn’t fragile. It doesn’t crack just because we broke the rules.
Trading Shame for Freedom
Here’s the trap we usually fall into: when we fail, we trade our freedom for shame. We put heavy chains on ourselves and start trying to earn back God’s approval. We work extra hard, pray a little louder, and try to prove to Him—and to ourselves—that we are actually good people. But friends, that is an exhausting way to live. You were never meant to carry the weight of your own redemption.
When Jesus says it is finished, He actually means it. Your mistakes do not get the final say over your identity.
Living loved means dropping the heavy backpack of shame on the floor. It means looking at your failure not as a permanent label, but as a reminder of just how deep and wide God’s mercy really is. When you mess up, you don’t have to run away from God in hiding. Because of Jesus, you can run right into His arms.
Living Boldly Today
So what does this mean for us when we walk out our front doors today? It means we can live boldly. We don’t have to live defensively, constantly terrified that one wrong move is going to ruin everything. We are anchored in a love that cannot be shaken, bought, or lost. When you know you are fully, fiercely, and forever loved by God, it changes how you look at yourself, and it changes how you look at the people around you who are struggling, too.
You don’t have to spend today trying to prove your worth. You are already chosen. You are already held. So take a deep breath, shake off the heavy stuff from yesterday, and step into today with your head up. His grace has got you covered.
