I as a brazilian citizen, that loves my country but also learned how to love South Africa, as my own country I would say, want to write here my protest. I am very sad.
Here it goes:
I want to express my disappointment with the government and mind set of many South Africans, because what I see is a big cowardice against Afrikaans and English inheritance in this country.
This government and many of the South African citizens that blame the Apartheid for all bad things, but not their mistakes of today. You, you government are in the same place the Apartheid leaders were or even worse. You are racist when you give everything to one people, measuring them by their colour of skin and not by their capacity and competence. You are destroying statues not because of the past but because of racism, otherwise many other statues should be taken away. You are giving priority of employment to one people and denying to other people saying that it is democracy, but it is racism. You are threatening farmers to sell their farms for a low price with the taxes that all pay and you give it to one people. People that wasn’t here in the beginning, just to compare. You racist government should be denounced and suffer international sanctions, not because I want it but because it is the same apartheid with different speeches and flags.
You should be bringing unity and peace to your people but you, in the name of power and oppression are bringing division and fights, disrespect and injustice. You have been doing that for many years.
I strongly disagree with this way of racism. It shouldn’t be about race or colour but about one nation. You can’t build a nation on this principles.
Shame on you.
And I am not even white, not that it makes any difference or has ever made.
